Two whole months of Sketch A Day, not bad. Not as good as last year, but last year I wasn't working 40 hours a week. And for the last week or so the sketches have been feeling more like a chore than actually fun. And I told myself from day one that if felt like a chore, it ended. So I rode it out to the end of the month. And Huzzah! I made it!

whelp, new year, means new Sketch A Day. I'm shooting for 30 days, but if like last year I'm still in the mood after 30, I'll keep pushing, maybe I'll even break 100! 8D

If you have a character you'd like me to include in the challenge, please drop a reference in a reply to this post and I might (no promises) do a sketch of him/her/it. I'm only one man, doing one sketch a day for this, so please, keep it to one OC per requester. Art Appreciators are encouraged to request as well. No fanart of licensed characters though.

Some time ago a user named Mdetector5 was being a cancer, so we carved him out. He then did ban-evasion and we carved him out again. Then he contacted me on YiM, and we had a silly conversation where he said he'd do *ANYTHING* to get back into hA.

I then sent him an email saying that if he started sniffing around hA I'd post the conversation. He never replied, but has begun sniffing around the site sending the admin emails begging to be let back in.

So, yeah, here's the unedited conversation, typos, horrible spelling and all:

mdetector5: I know you banned me from Hartists, and it was probably done out of spite. I said I was sorry for what I did with the PMs and the Oneliner. They all saw it. I said "I feel MUCH better now" and I apologized to the person I sent PMs to. You did this to spite ME, and this will not stand. I will find some way to come back to Hartists if this BS ban is not corrected.
Steveman: We got formal complaints. Many of them in a short time. And you tried ban evasion by starting a new account, regardless of what you think of the original ban, that is against the rules. No matter what you do we will find you and we will remove you again.
mdetector5: I see!
mdetector5: I am not a bad person!
Steveman: doens't matter. You were still breaking the rules.
mdetector5: I had a bad day, and unfortunately took it out on people.
Steveman: The rules will be enforced.

mdetector5: I want this last chance. I'm sick of being punished every-damn-where I go for the things I do.
Steveman: No more chances. Your time after your last ban was your last chance.

A passing conversation in the ol got me thinking. I have a lot of character and most of them have names. And some people, a few as they are, might be interested in where those names come from.

Taresa Alexandria "Trixie" Danvers
Trixie comes from Dixie from Neuromancer
Danvers comes from Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel & Supergirl who went by Lindy Lee Danvers for a while.
Taresa Alexandria is me trying to find sounds that could reasonably be shortened to Trixie.

Steve and Stephanie Manning
Steve comes from an old RP character from high-school that displaced my real name because there were way too many people who shared the same first name as me.
Then for about 4 years it was ignored because I was no longer with that group of people then I was in the military. Eventually I came across a Megaman fan-community, so I resurrected that character idea and created Steveman. Over time people began to identify that name with me more than any other persona I used. So it stuck.
When I divorced my characters from the Megaman fandom, I needed a last name for Steve, who had become a real boy!So Manning comes from me needing a last name that would easily nickname to Steveman, and football.
Stephanie is just a rule 63 joke go awry.

The Sisters Asakura
Yumiko, Michiyo and Tsubami
Just random Japanese names I picked for the half-Japanese genetically engineered super soldiers.
They originally had no last name because they were devised to be assassins who would be antagonists to the heroes of an unrelated plot. But after I killed that idea early I spent a few months trying to work them into the "plot" for Steve and Trixie. But then I realized a trio of super soldier assassins wouldn't mix well. So I toned them down, made the super soldiers the police... blah blah blah. Eventually Assassin was shortened to Assa, then I realized that's a lame name so I changed it to Asakura because it sounds cool and similar, and because Ryouku Asakura from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is my favorite character in that series.

Nyamo Sakamoto
I have no clue where that name comes from. It may have been a joint effort between me and someone else I knew at the above megaman community, but I don't remember.

Andrew "Anny" Katzberg
My old username here was Anonymous37. I created a catboy character based on that name.

Lina and Issac Llama
Not my characters, just liberally borrowed from one of my best friends.

Charlie Azure
Not my character, just liberally borrowed from one of my best friends, who is not affiliated with hA in any way.

Mio Kanazaka
She's a modern world counterpart to Myoka (see below). The friend who created Charlie Azure came up with the name for her.

Doctor John Schottenjaeger
Only my character in very loose sense. He's an interpretation of another of my best friends.

I like the name Vahn and Vilisson means the "son of man". And I love alliteration in naming.

Myoka
She's been around since 1998 or so, I was just becoming the weeaboo I am today. Truth is I just liked the sound of her name.

Covenant
Not commonly used character, he's effectively just a fantasy counterpart to Steve. His real name is Steban Athander. Lord Covenant is a familial title given to all paladins. He's technically a fallen paladin, but was never really one in the first place, and he was excommunicated from his order because he put more stock in the good of the people than the good of the faith.

Belladonna and Adina
I just thought they would be a good name for a healer-type clerics.

Kora Faceripper
Her name was recommended by . Other people seemed to like it. Her last name Faceripper comes from her mother, since her father's family disowned her father because he fell in love with an orc woman. He joined their tribe and took their clan name in place of his own.

Nianra
Awesome sexy name for awesome sexy musclegirl. An asspull name I made to sound like it fits in with the names for the other Cuirizu characters.

Dendalli Blackhorde
The character was an early D&D character of mine. His name was strait up asspull based on my own initials. I was 15, don't blame me on how ridiculous it sounds.

Hashamentur
Think norse Tir/Tyr and hose him down in Babylonian juice and weeaboo imagery (particualrly late-era Final Fantasy summons). Not only is that where his name comes from, but also his look.

Ba'al
Little bit middle eastern mythology, little bit Stargate SG1.

Emaria
Extra engrish action word jumble Amelia from Slayers.

Donar
Rule 63 Thor. Her name comes from regional names for Thor.

While I have no connection to the original thread or the game that spawned it, I must say I an fucking proud to be a fa/tg/uy today. While it has be known that throughout the entire lifespan of the Dark Heresy RPG the developers have payed attention to the unofficial hub of the 40k fandom. Not until today has there been such a obvious and heart-warming tribute.

There was once a fellow fa/tg/uy who posted anonymously of his in-character deeds in a Dark Heresy campaign. His character was Acolyte Castus Grendel.
